New Olympic Sport -- Competitive Posing.

TWO DOLLS THAT POSE REALLY WELL!

Yep. Looks like Trixie (Urban Vita) and Kaori (Fashion Doll Agency) are going to have a pose-off! Both these dolls are great fun to play with, but for me, the favorite is Trixie. Each is a champ though.

While the dolls are both very well articulated, Trixie has double body joints that give her a more graceful flexibility.

Trixie and Kaori are proof that you can be both friends and competitors!

The Fashion Police Miss an Opportunity.

Even though the dolls were told at the very last minute that they were going to get to go along on a day trip to Blowing Rock, they should have been better prepared. Of course, I suppose I did forget to mention that mountain climbing would be included in the day's activities along with "lunch" and "shopping".

Gene was absolutely sure that even though the colors were just perfect for a day in the mountains of North Carolina in the fall ... she was dressed all wrong for hiking!
Antoinette was so proud of herself for wearing trousers ... but then the spike heels confronted the climb, and sitting proved to be what she did best.

Trixie couldn't quite find the center of balance which is usually no problem for her! She had thought the 30's look would be stunning in the mountains ... and it was, till she tried to walk! Sitting was a much better idea!!

Trixie decided to do a stint of high fashion modeling. She chose a Joe Tai gown and went to work.

Choosing The Perfect Pumpkin!

Trixie has found the
perfect pumpkin for her Jack-o-Lantern. It's pretty heavy. How to get it home?
I do have my bike here. Let's see ....

Well, it seems to sort of fit in the basket! Wonder if I can ride like this?

I've got my training wheels on! I can do this. Here we go!

OMG!! I hope I don't fall off! Get out of my way and look out for curves!

Trixie May Make a Run at Olympic Gold.

With her natural flexibility and her talent in dance, Trixie found that ice skating was a great sport for her. Having studied ballet and tap as a child, she had a good foundation for her move to the ice.

Following are a few shots taken during a costumed rehearsal. Whether this is the costume she'll choose remains to be seen, but it's a cinch that those perfect moves will stay!

Ice Dancing -- No dolls were harmed ... much.

The champions of the Semi-Grand Nationals, Veroushka Vynaldolvia and Skatemondsly Studdolinsky, seemed on top of their game as he helped lace on her skates.

They skated onto the ice with the cheers of the crowd ringing in their ears!

It looked like another easy win for this seasoned pair as they wowed the crowd with their dancing.

It might have been a perfect routine if, just as they got to that tricky lift, Kristi Yamagouchi hadn't chosen that moment to wave at Skatemondsly from the stands.

DISASTER!!

It still might have been alright if, backstage, Skate had not said to Verushka, "It's not my fault if you put on a bit of weight this summer."

And so .... another great pair bites the dust. ... Or ice ... whatever.

Trixie settles in ...

Trixie has been having fun joining in with the rest of the dolls here. Seems that she and Gene might be related.

A "family resemblance" there I think.

I'm finding that Trixie is able to wear the Alexander clothing pretty well. She fit's easily into Tonner, and she can wear quite a bit of Gene's wardrobe. The Gene items do tend to be a bit snug in the waist. Trixie is also taller than all the girls. This works to her favor in some cases. For instance ... doll coats are usually a bit overpowering, but Trixie's difference in height seems to make the coats fit better.

Lend Me Your Ear

Well. I don't really want your ear, but I just have to show a photo of a very cute ear. I love that the ear lobe is actually not just made into the head. Nice detail, I think.

This isn't a blog devoted to Urban Vita. It just looks that way right now.

Doll Body Comparison.

I had a request to do a comparison between the bodies of the more popular dolls. Since this is not something I normally bother with, I am going to apologize hardily for the photos. I'm afraid I just stuck the dolls on a handy surface and did this as quickly as possible. The results are a bit embarrassing for both myself and the dolls! At any rate .... here you see the Tonner switch-foot body with the reg. bust (Charlotte is wearing a wig ... and not her best one.). Antoinette (who was in the midst of a photo shoot and did not remove her jewelry). Urban Vita, and Gene on a WuBody.

Since it is virtually and really impossible for me to do something simple, I then decided to show the dolls sitting and posing. I sometimes wonder if I should be under care.

Antoinette had on her hooker shoes and had to swing her legs to the side a bit.

Now I'll make a personal comment or two since I'm here. I can't stand stands. I say that somewhat in jest because of course they are useful. But I can't stand dolls photographed on them. I try never to use stands when I'm doing a shoot because I don't think the poses are as realistic. Now. That is just me. But you can understand that balance is VERY important in my world!

My dolls are all my mini-actors. I like them to be as "human" as possible in photos, so the ability to assume life-like poses is very high on my scale of "must-haves". That said, a few comments.

Gene has a pretty body and poses so much better than she did for years when she had slipped behind the crowd, but I'd love even more. The Tonner switch-foot body is great! I love the ability to have a doll in flats or heels, and the rotation of the foot makes it very easy to balance the doll for photos. Antoinette is a joy. She has the most beautiful (in the Cameo) vinyl color I've seen. She balances well and poses well. Urban Vita. She wins posing hands down. Her vinyl is not as pretty as the other girls, but it really is just fine. I'm looking forward to having her own shoes for her, but even in borrowed shoes she seems to balance well. And she cost me $107 and that includes shipping from HEA. Such a deal! Antoinette was a bit less, but she only came in undies and hooker shoes (both very cute!!) and Trixie (Vita) had a whole outfit.
